Pāora - 2nd Place

I arrived at the Regent Theatre early this morning to get a good spot to record and take pictures. The weather was drizzly and cold but the atmosphere inside the Regent Theatre was warm and bubbly. After the trophies were returned and the opening karakia was delivered the Senior A's took the stage.

More snapshots from Ngā Manu Kōrero

Hato Pāora College once again excelled at this years competition taking out 3 of the 4 sections.

Our speaker for Junior Māori - Kent Peterson did himself, his whanau and our school proud by coming in at a close 2nd place.

Hona Black was once again the best Senior orator in both English and Te Reo Māori.

Year 9 student Eugene Nicholls showed maturity beyond his years with his strong message 'In the pursuit of justice'. He will definitely be one to follow over the next few years.

Although the weather was miserable, cold and wet, the chapel, wharenui, library and gym proved to be havens for all, up until the completion of the prepared speeches when the judges and teachers were treated to a beautiful hakari, and the students to BBQ and steak sammies.

Here are some pics of students from today.

Can't wait to see all the groups at the Regent Theatre on Monday for Pae Taiohi.

Ko wai hua, ko wai ka tohu.
Ko wai te kapa ka taka.
Ko wai te tira ka hira.
Ko wai te waka ka haka.
